This guide explains every feature of iCanScan, a web-based document scanner that works directly inside your browser without any app installation. Learn how to upload, scan, edit, enhance, reorder, and download your documents professionally.
When you open iCanScan, the center of the page displays two main actions: Upload and Capture. These buttons appear only before the first image is added.
UploadUse this button to select a document photo from your device. Supported formats include JPG, PNG, HEIC, and PDF (first page only).
CameraOpens your phone camera so you can take a photo of your document directly. iCanScan automatically detects edges and prepares the image for processing.
Once an image is uploaded, the Upload and Capture buttons automatically hide. The page thumbnails appear at the bottom for navigation and reordering.
Every scanned or uploaded page appears as a small thumbnail below the main preview. You can:
Below the thumbnails, you will find the main toolbar. Each button has a unique purpose for editing or enhancing your document.
RescanReplaces the current page with a new image. On desktop it opens the file picker; on mobile it opens the camera. Useful if a page came out blurred or poorly lit.
UploadAdd additional document photos to your current scan. Each uploaded image becomes a new page in the thumbnail list.
CameraOpens the camera to capture new pages instantly. Ideal for scanning multi-page documents on the go.
FilterEnhance your document using one of four filters:
Click the Filter button again to close the filter menu.
CropAdjust the automatically detected corners. When Crop is opened for the first time, three options appear:
RotateRotates the current page clockwise by 90°. Click multiple times to reach the correct orientation.
ResizeResize the document image within the page using preset sizes:
The page size stays the same—only the image inside is resized.
AdjustFine-tune the document using sliders. Use Reset, OK, or Cancel to finish editing.
DeleteDeletes the selected page immediately. Use with caution; this action is permanent.
SetupChoose final PDF settings: page size, margins, orientation, and page numbering. Click Apply to confirm.

DocumentsManage your saved scans. Only documents saved via the Drive option appear here.
Open the page thumbnail you want to replace, then use Rescan to take or choose a new photo. The new image replaces only that page.
Drag left or right on desktop with the mouse. On phone, touch and hold a thumbnail until it lifts, then drag to the new position.
Fit snaps the crop corners to the image edges automatically. Toggle Fit again to return to free corner control.
Use Download → Drive. The app downloads the PDF locally and stores a copy in Google Drive; those Drive-saved files appear under My Documents.
