Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2025

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how iCanScan ("the Service") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our platform. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect and store the following information:

  • Your name and email address (for account authentication and communication).
  • Basic usage data, such as the number of documents you scan.
  • Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive access tokens (to enable file storage and retrieval).

We do not store your files on our servers. All document processing happens in memory within your browser. Files are only stored in your connected Google Drive or OneDrive account, depending on your selection at the time of download.

3. Use of Google and Microsoft OAuth Data

iCanScan requests limited access through Google OAuth and Microsoft OAuth to enable cloud storage features. Specifically:

  • Google Drive scope: drive.file (access is limited to files created by iCanScan).
  • Microsoft OneDrive: equivalent limited file access for files created by iCanScan.

These permissions are used strictly for:

  • Uploading documents you create or process on iCanScan to your Drive/OneDrive.
  • Allowing you to open, edit, or re-process files you created with iCanScan.

We do not use OAuth access for any other purpose, and we never share this data with third parties.

4. Data Retention

Your account data (name, email, usage records) remains stored until you delete your account. OAuth tokens are stored securely in our database to ensure seamless integration with Google Drive and OneDrive, so you do not need to reconnect your account each time you use the Service.

If you delete your account, all associated data and tokens are removed from our system.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or files with any third parties. Your data is used exclusively to provide and improve the Service.

6. Security

iCanScan uses HTTPS (SSL) to protect your data in transit. While access tokens are stored to maintain your connection with Google Drive and OneDrive, we do not currently apply additional encryption to stored tokens. We continuously review and improve our security measures to safeguard your information.

7. User Control

You may revoke iCanScan’s access to your Google or Microsoft account at any time through your Google Account permissions page or Microsoft Account settings. You may also delete your iCanScan account to remove all associated data and tokens from our servers.

8. Children’s Privacy

iCanScan is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us to request deletion.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
